Fencing was the first event on friday evening. With only 22 athletes starting the event didn't take too long and meant that each hit was expensive gaining or loosing 44 points for each hit. A solid fence of 13victories and 7defeats was a good start to the weekend.
Saturday morning began with the shooting. 178 was another solid performance and saw me in the lead after two events. I was disappointed with my swim time 2.21 but at least it was an improvement from the recent world cup in Rome. I was quite nervous for the ride. The course wasn't particulary straight forward and I still had the memories of the last competition at Millfield where I had a bad fall. Nerves weren't necessary and I produced a good performance with no jumping penalties, just 20 time faults. The running event was held as a mass start. I had a decent points lead starting the run and it meant that I had to stick as close to Heather and Katy as possible. Katy won the run , 18seconds ahead and Heather was 2nd only 7seconds ahead of me and not enough to overtake me on the overall standings.
Being crowned British Champion is a great feeling and I was really happy with a good weekend's performance.
